Michael, marching season basically ends after the last competition. You do realize that that only leaves one more chance for a sectional, right? Not really. There's always a chance for a sectional. All-State etudes (lyrical and technical), concert music (I can always get a copy of the music from Mote work with the rookies for half the time, then let them go home and work with the veterans; veterans can do homework while I'm working with the rookies, or they can join in if they want), the rest of the stuff on the tryout sheets, homecoming music (which we still need to get), etc. There's always room for improvement. Plus, I was going to start having the veterans give the rookies lessons during sectionals. With marching season over, I won't have to worry about pass-offs so we won't be overcrowded with stuff to get done.

Great job at competition!! Straight superiors and second in our class! I'm really happy with the results. Our score was 89.2. We lost to Dalton by 8/10 (.8) of a point. GREAT JOB!

THAT was definantly the best run of the show yet. Straight superiors man it must have been good and as Mote said its basicaly a tie considering how close it was.

Guys, I've been really busy lately so I'm not going to read everything, it would take too long. Did I miss anything really big?

Great job today.... yesterday.... whatever. I felt like it was weaker than last week, maybe just because we weren't focused and we let last week's performance go to our heads. But I'm satisfied with another set of straight ones and second place, so good job!

Subject: Team of the Week From: "John Mote" <John.Mote@cherokee.k12.ga.us> Date: Wed, Oct 22, 2008 6:13 am
The Etowah football team has been chosen as channel five’s “Team of the Week”. In connection with tomorrow’s pep rally honoring them, our marching band will perform the “Grease” show for the cameras at 7:40 AM. All marching band students will need to meet in the band room at 7:15 AM to warm up and get last minute instructions. Students should wear the white/blue Friday “chicken” (polo) shirt, wind suit jacket, blue jeans, yellow gloves, and tennis shoes. If students would like, they may also want to wear thermal underwear or a long sleeve t-shirt under the Friday shirt. Everyone should also bring a change of socks and shoes in that the field will still be wet from the dew.
Thanks for your assistance in helping our school celebrate this tremendous honor
John Mote
Director of Instrumental Music
Etowah High School
CORRECTION: The bold words are incorrect. The shirts we're wearing are just called chicken shirts. The second use of "Friday shirt" is wrong. We aren't bringing both shirts. Only the chicken shirt. Obviously, Mr. Mote has been away from the Etowah marching band for so long that he doesn't know what anything is called anymore. Just clearing that up.
NOTE: Chicken shirts are the polo shirts because the eagle on the front looks like a chicken. Friday shirts are the show shirts with the Grease theme printed all over it.
