lol How did that go?
I have a speech I have to write and have close to memorized by Tuesday. I can memorize music and short passages of words, but speeches take a while. We're allowed to have note cards, but they're only for organization and stuff. The topic is "I declare my freedom from..." I chose "dictatorship in schools" (Mote), but Mr. Hinson made me change it to "school's authority over our lives."
.......
This isn't going to go well.

We don't have to memorize the speech, just know what we're talking about. We can have note cards with summaries and the elements that we need. Idk, i feel okay about it. I mean, we did this all the time in Mrs. Moseley's class last year...

lol We only did it once for that passage of Julius Caesar we had to memorize. The rest of the time we had our papers up there with us, and some people (like me) read straight from the paper.
I know it doesn't have to be memorized, but I'm never very good with long speeches. I'd probably have to have it memorized in order to make it the full 3:30-4:30 minutes.

True...
Oh, do we have to have logical and emotional appeals highlighted lik the rhetorical questions and parallelism?

I think we have to highlight all the elements of a speech, including different appeals.

Lucco/Tyler, I don't understand the response journals. What do we do for them? Can we just write our own story using the same basic ideas and plot "in response to the story"? Or do we have to say what we liked about the story, what we didn't like, what could have been better, etc?

Do the journals have to be turned in to Turnitin.com? It says they do on the sheet, but I haven't been able to find the assignment on the site.
