It's not your reading abilities. It's your (and the rest of the trumpets') dedication and memory. You've actually been pretty good about keeping up with the forums.

By the way, I know I've mentioned this already in other threads, but anyone who hasn't passed off their music yet needs to see me tomorrow. If everyone could stay after school, that would be great. If you stay, it will count for 100 Spirit Points. If everyone stays, I will count it for 300 Spirit Points for each of you.

Michael, I think I figured out why you're so good at memorizing stuff -
You know your pitches so well, so you play it once, you think the pitch, and you just know the song. At least that's what helps me, just knowing the pitch.

Yeah, that makes sense. That was why listening to the music made it so much easier to memorize it. It's pitch recognition. You hear the note, give it its name (A, B, C, D, E, F, G), and then you match the fingerings.

Hey, just a suggestion for the forums (I run several myself [I'm the ultimate computer geek]), it's hard for most people to keep up and search through the forums and even remember to check sometimes. There might be a function to send everyone of a section an email every time there is a new post. I check my email frequently, so that would help me, personally.

Good idea. I'll check on it. I'm only co-admin, though, so, if there is some way to do that, Justin will probably have to set it up. There is a way to email everyone, but I don't know if there's any way to set it automatically.

People post too often on this site. You would get like 20 emails a day. I suggest just getting into the habit of checking this site daily (preferably at night when updates have been made).

Good point.

Yeah. You're lucky: you only have to check the Full Band, Marching Band, and Trumpets sections. Being co-admin, I have to read everything. Checking at the end of the day is always a good idea. But we also have a lot of people posting late at night, so you'll keep getting new messages every time you go back to the homepage. If you can, check in the morning too. That way you can read all the posts at once without having to worry about missing something.

Well, that's good. As long as you check the forums often and read most of it and make some posts so we know you read it, you should be fine.

Okay, all trumpets, I want to have Greased Lightnin' and Summer Nights passed off soon. I'll be at practice a little early tomorrow, and I might be able to stay a little bit late, but don't count on it. I'll also be in the band room around 8:00 Saturday morning, so I'll be able to pass off one or two people then. I want everyone passed off Saturday. I don't want to have to have anyone take their music onto the field at the Georgia Dome. You've had five weeks to memorize the music. I expect it to be ready. Marcus got his low woodwinds to pass off their music by saying that they would run laps if they didn't get it done. I don't hwant to have to do that, but I will if you don't have it ready by next Wednesday. THAT DOES NOT MEAN PROCRASTINATE UNTIL TUESDAY TO MEMORIZE YOUR MUSIC. Have it ready by Saturday. Play along with the music a few times. READ the music. I don't mean just the notes. I mean all the articulations and dynamics. Match the recording as closely as possible. Here's the link. www.msconcepts.com/shows/show-detail.asp?showid=498I'll be asking everyone if they listened to the music and practiced it. I expect everyone to be able to say that they did.

To the trumpets:
there is no excuse as to why you don't have the music memorized all ready. Some sections already have We Go Together passed off. We were supposed to have the first 2 songs passed off last week. You are lucky you have Michael. He is too nice. I might have to take away ChaCha if he lets you guys get away with more stupid stuff.
We are the trumpets. We are supposed to be the best section. We can't do that if we are a bunch of lazy poop heads who just read the EHS Brass Forums all day like me.

Speaking of that, why aren't you practicing Hand Jive and We Go Together right now?
Yes, you are very lucky to have me. I don't give laps very often unless I have no choice (you're late, you do something after I tell you not to, etc... actually, I haven't been giving laps for some things I should be giving them for: talking/moving at attention, mouthpieces falling, etc. You're lucky you're only getting push ups for those things.) If you don't want that to change, work hard and GET YOUR MUSIC PASSED OFF!!! After next Wednesday, I will start giving laps for music you don't have passed off. I'll set a date to have Hand Jive and We Go Together memorized by. And I'll also have a date for the fight song, Star Spangled Banner, and Fire of Eternal Glory. I want those passed off by that date, so start working on those too, but Greased Lightnin' and Summer Nights are our top priorities for now.

You are especially lucky that Michael didn't give you laps when you guys were beating up Larry.
