gmea.org/Click Band. Click All-State Band. Pick your grade. Find your instrument. Click the etude. This won't be needed until about December, but I recommend starting the music soon. Hint: We use these etudes for chair placement during concert season.

wow, I am really not liking the 11-12th grade trumpet part. 32nd notes = bad.

Yeah, and it's in 6/8 again. I hate 6/8 All-State etudes.

It also has sharps in the key signature. It's only 2, but for some reason I don't like sharps. Sharp notes are odd balls. You hardly have to play them.

Yeah. The only sharp key I like is G. One sharp. Flats are okay as long as it's less than three flats.

I agree with everything you said.
I can't see why we can't audition with our own music. I have a fast piece that I've had ready for 2 years, but we keep doing GMEA.

Yeah, I know. Nobody practices GMEA music anyway. They just do it to force everyone to learn it so they can force us to try out for District.

Michael, I have a bunch of questions. How much do those college band camps cost? For Anthony, go down to your neighborhoods pool, and play the trumpet there. 2 attempts at that and you'll be cured. Also, should I look at that district stuff, or am I still to noobish?

Everyone needs to print it out. That's what we use for our chair placement auditions at school. You're really good. You should definitely try out for District. Warning: Beware of Austin from North Cobb.

He's the home schooled kid who get's first chair every year, right? I met him there last year backed when I still stunk (like, really badly. I couldn't play because I had just gotten braces).

No, he's a sophomore at North Cobb. He's the son of the director there, and he was at District last year. He was able to play Super C (C above high C above the staff) last year as a freshman. He's REALLY good.
